Ecuador was the winner of 25 awards in the twenty-fifth edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA). Different institutions recognized for the quality of their services. The event was held at the Palacio de Cristal in Guayaquil, which was the setting for the awards ceremony “Turism Óscar”, South America edition.
Ecuador was nominated in 38 categories. Thanks to the support of nationals and foreigners who enjoy the tourist wonders of this country, they obtained these important recognitions that position it among the first destinations with the greatest tourist potential in the world.
The event was held on September 15th, where our culture, gastronomy, tourist attractions and the quality of services offered to the country were presented to international guests.
The representative of the Tourism City Counselar, Gloria Gallardo, mentioned the honor it represents for the host city of this event. Gallardo congratulated and thanked the representatives of the WTA for recognizing the excellence of the tourism service worldwide.
Enrique Ponce de León, Minister of Tourism, also said “We are proud to welcome tourists in a place where magic and dreams come true.” The country is crossed by the equator line, has 4 worlds and has established itself as a Green Destination”.
Also, tourism authorities mentioned that Ecuador is open to the world with excellent connectivity, recognized destinations and declared heritage. “Ecuador is a real magical world with tourist and gastronomic potential, with ancestral flavors and knowledge,” they said.
With the awards obtained by Ecuador, the country enters the world final competition of the WTA. The final gala will be held in Lisbon, (Portugal), on December 1, 2018.
