We start our tour in the north of the city, where the Quito´s commercial and residential area is located. We’ll continue to the colonial area where we will have a walking tour through the streets of Quito’s historical center. Visiting Plaza de la Independencia, surrounded by the main buildings which governing the political and the religious life of the city and the country; the Cathedral, Archbishop’s Palace, The City Hall and the Government Palace. We’ll continue the visit to the interior of La Compañía Church where you can appreciate not only its magnificent architecture, but also finely crafted decoration in gold leaf.
The tour continues in our transportation to the Panecillo Hill, a landscape where the winged Virgin of Quito stands, it custodies the city of Quito and where you can see the shape of its streets and a large view. We’ll going back to the main square for lunch. After this, we’ll go to the north to The Middle of the World City. Here we will find the most visited monument of Ecuador, the one which divides the world in two hemispheres, the north and the south. Pictures with one foot in each hemisphere are very popular here. This citadel offers some other attractions like the Ethnographic museum, the Planetarium, handicrafts shops and restaurants. On weekends, the main square of this citadel is the scenery for cultural and artistic shows. At the end of the tour we will return to the hotel.
